Depot Dispatch - Nov. 9th, 2008

Air show - Cooler Weather - $1 parking -
---------------------------------------
Things are busier here, but the President's Counsel decided that I may not let you know how the depot depot did money wise. The decision was based on a worry that a robber would read the blog and then rob the depot.

Personally, I don't agree. I only send the notice to check the blog to the handful of inner circle people.

Also, I was surprised to see a sale on large print books. What's the point of sale if nobody knows about it.

Sales are great and are great opportunity for me to send out an e-mail letting the over 2000 people on my sale notification list know about the sale. Somebody please let me know about any upcoming sales so I can send out an e-mail and update the webpage.

I heard nothing about this sale until I got here. The sale e-mails do bring in lots of people but I have to know about it at least a day before the sale.

Also, has the policy changed on public use of bathrooms? A lady asked me if she could use the bathroom here at the depot and I told her where the public bathroom was at the end of the building. She said that when she was here last week she was allowed to use the depot bathroom. I told her that our policy was that the bathrooms are not for public use. Has this changed? If not then I think we have to be consistent in our policy.

Feel free to post YOUR opinion, whether you agree ot disagree. That's what a blog is all about.

Depot Dispatch - October 11 & 12 - 1/2 Price Sale

The sales from these weekends may have been somewhat reduced because early publicity of the 1/2 price sale may have depressed our regular sales. In the future, I hope we don't publicize the 1/2 price sale until after the Sunday before the sale. Anyway, that's my opinion.

September 28th - Depot Dispatch

Rain, Rain and More rain, often heavy.

As expected customer traffic has been very light.

This may be a record low for a two day weekend, but not much we can do about all day rain. Great revenue the week before though.

Sept. 14, 2008 - The Depot Dispatch

Today is Sunday, Sept. 14th. Another slow start on a hot summer day.

Nancy and Bill Deacon and Carol and I are running the depot today.

Right now I'm reading Flyboys by James Bradley. It's a very tough but enlightening look at war, specifically the pacific war in WWII and the historical seedlings which grew into this conflict.

Aug. 31, 2008 - Depot Dispatch

We're back. We traded off a Sunday because we took our daughter to Stetson two weeks ago for her first year at college.

Today is muggy and rainy and turnout is light so far. We will see what happens.

July 20th, 2008 - the Weekly Depot

July 20th, 2008 - the Weekly Depot

We opened up at 8:45 and there were three customers inside before we had all the lights turned on.

Very hot day outside and we kept the large door closed, but the little door open.

It still stays cool inside but is more welcoming to customers than a closed door. Steady stream of customers all day.

Today we closed promptly at 2:00 so we could get to a movie on time. We made it.

Here's some titles/authors people wanted but couldn't find:

A Land Remembered by Patrick Smith
William Martin
Romance type book by Richards

July 13th, The Weekly Depot

-----------------------------

Well, It's been slow and mostly steady.

We're staying open a little late, 2:30 now, because the rain drove in a bunch of fleeing flea marketers.

Steady traffic all day today.

Saturday: July 6, 2008 - How it's going at the Depot

Friends,

Good crowd of people today. Apparently there was a pretty good crowd yesterday

The sale on history and hardcover fiction did get good press coverage and there seem to be lot of customers who head straight to the history table.
I'll give a final report later.
